(**** update November 5,, 2020 ****) only one proof, shown at left, ex Robson Lowe, had been seen. There are two examples of finished stamp reproductions now known, one is ex Kanai and a second example, that received a RPSL certificate as genuine in January 2019, has now been confirmed as a Sperati forgery.

1. there is a diagonal slash of color that extends from the left edge of "O" to the lower portion of the upright of the "P" of "POST" at left side

2. the shading characteristics of any reproductions would be identical to the proof example shown

 


1860 Issue 9d

1. there is a small white dot in left leg of the "M" of "MAURITIUS"

2. there is a small break in the oval frame line above the left side of "R" of "MAURITIUS"


1879 Issue 13c Type A

1. the frameline of triangle ornament at top right has a displacement break near bottom

2. the shading lines in from of head are often broken near bridge of nose


1879 Issue 13c Type B (new in Sperati II)

1. lacks the prominent frameline triangle flaw of Type A

2. there is a small white spot to lower right of the "T" of "MAURITIUS"


1879 Issue 38c Type A

1. there is a small colored dot in the "A" of "MAURITIUS"

2. there is a white spot to the right of the "S" of "CENTS"

1879 Issue 38c Type B (new in Sperati II, Museum Only)

1. there are several splotches of color in the lines to left of the point of bust

2. the "H" of "THIRTY" has a faint broken line below its left leg
