Sperati I reported reproductions of the 1851 issue 2s and the 1857 issue 1s on genuine watermarked stamp paper with designs washed away and the cancels retained. Sperati II reports negatives that were found in the Paris Museum of the 1q and 9c denominations.

1. there is a thin line of color connecting outer frame line to ornament at top right corner

2. there is a break on left edge of ornament at bottom right


1857 Issue 2s

1.
the bottom left serif of the "T" of "TOSCANO" is broken

2. there is a dot of color between the "O" and "S" of "TOSCANO"

As described in the Sperati II text, the Paris Museum has Sperati negatives for the two reproductions shown at left. Both have many major design flaws and it is unlikely that they were used unless extensively retouched.
