Uruguay (Part 1) (Part 2, 1859 to 1864 issues is here) 1856 Diligencia Issue: 60c (3), 60c
redrawn design, 80c (2) and 1r (4) Everything about the Uruguay reproductions was made by Sperati. This includes any forged cancels and examples with fake gum. Uruguay was a particular favorite of Sperati as evidenced by the fact that he used the 1856 Diligencia issue "sun face" as a logo. He made several custom orders of Uruguay reproductions for a German collector living in Argentina, William Hoffmann. These included reproductions of specific sheet positions that were needed for plate reconstructions by Hoffmann. page thumbnails:
